Mother's Day/Birthday Card

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog.  Today, I want to share with you a quick and fun card I made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day and birthday.  She celebrates both at about the same time, and while I usually make two separate cards, I combined them this year.

I adhered an olive green paper to the card front, cut to 4-3/4" x 6-1/4".  This left a small border around my pre-folded A6 size (5" x 6-1/2") ivory card.  Set aside.

Print out the rose image from the Digital Delights Flower set onto a piece of cream paper.  I used the black and white outline version so I could color the image myself.  I used various Distress Ink markers.

Die cut a piece of pink Kraft-Core CS using Spellbinders die.  To turn it into an open frame, I die cut the largest frame, and also inserted the second largest frame in the middle.  This gave me an open frame instead of a solid, decorative edge mat.  I can use that center piece in another project.

Glue the frame over the rose image, trimming any excess cream cardstock that shows through the decorative edge.  Adhere this piece to the front of the card.  Add Rock Candy stickles to the rose, as shown.  Rather than apply glitter to the whole rose, I simply added lines of glitter along those in the image.
I computer generated my sentiment onto a piece of parchment paper, then used the same large frame from the die set to cut it out.  I used a blending tool with Walnut Stain to distress the edges.  Adhere this piece to the inside of the card.
Supplies used:

Digital Delights digital download - Flower Set
Spellbinders S5-147-Majestic Elements Resplendent Rectangles
K&Co Julianne Solid mat pad (olive green background)
Tim Holtz Kraft-Core paper (Nostalgic Collection)(pink frame)
Astroparche parchment paper (inside sentiment)
Cream card stock
Tim Holtz Distress Markers
Tim Holtz Distress ink pad - Walnut Stain
Tim Holtz Distress Stickles - Rock Candy

I hope you enjoyed my project today, and I look forward to having you visit again soon.  Thanks for your support, and have a very Happy Mother's Day!
