Sin City Stamps Blog Hop

Hey there, SCS fans, and welcome to the Sin City Stamps Blog Hop.  I am so glad you stopped by today.  I know you are going to enjoy visiting each of the designer's blogs and seeing the fabulous creations they have come up with.  In addition, Sin City Stamps is generously giving away a set of Halloween stamps to one lucky commenter and follower.  In order to win, you need to leave a comment and follow each blog, then leave a comment and LIKE the Sin City Stamps Facebook page.  It's as easy as that.

The Autumnal Equinox is just two days away, and I can finally feel a cooler breeze in the mornings here in the mid-South.  I am looking forward to the Fall, the cooler days, the crispness in the air, and all the beautiful colors that come with Autumn.  But most of all, I love making things for Halloween.  So, I decided to make a Halloween Mini Paperbag Album, from scratch, with my stash of Robin's Nest Halloween papers, who also just happen to be our sponsor this month.

Here is a picture of my mini album using those papers and embellishments.
I will post detailed instructions and supply list for making the album next week.  But for now, I will concentrate on some stamping techniques to embellish my mini album, using these really cool Halloween stamps from Sin City.

Supplies used:
Sin City Stamps: Halloween Bingo, Halloween Takes Flight,  Art Journaling with Terri Sproul 2,
Cardstock:  White (Neenah)
The Robin's Nest Cardstock:  Halloween Collection,  Crackle Glitter Collection
Copic Markers:  Chartreuse, Yellow Ochre
Gilder's Paste: Rust
EK Success 3/4" paper punch
Black India Ink (Stewart Superior); Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (Tsukineko); VersaMark (Tsukineko); StazOn Cotton White (Tsukineko)
Distress markers:  Crushed Olive, Shabby Shutters, Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, Aged Mahogany,
Black Soot, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo, Dusty Concord, Antique Linen,
                             Wild Honey, Tea Dye
Distress Crackle Paint:  Black Soot
Distress Paint:  Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn
Distress Ink: Forest Moss, Black Soot, Brushed Corduroy, Mowed Lawn, Ripe Persimmon, Crushed Olive,
Embossing Powder:  Adirondack Moss, Black Detail, Detail Clear, Terra Cotta
Bigz Dies:  Hanging Sign (Tim Holtz),
Sizzlits Decorative Strips: Cobwebs, Bats and Crossbones Garland, Graveyard, Mini Owl and Crescent Shaped Moon, Spooktacular Alphabet (Tim Holtz),
Cottage Cutz die:  Bats on Branch
Acrylic Paint:  French Roast, Taupe (Paper Artsy)
Core-dinations Card Stock:  Black
Black #8 Tags (Ranger)
3D Crystal Lacquer (Sakura)

Directions for embellishing the book:

Die cut Hanging Sign from chipboard.  Paint bracket with Black Soot crackle paint and rub Rust gilder's paste over high spots.

Paint sign with Spiced Marmalade distress paint, edge with Black Soot distress ink.  Stamp lace background in Black Soot around edges.  Adhere black die cut Spooktacular letters.  Add eyelets through sign holes and hook both pieces together with jump rings; adhere to front cover.
Die cut Graveyard from chipboard, continuing the cut to make it long enough for the inside front book cover.
Paint chipboard with Taupe and French Roast.

Stamp brick image with Antique Linen distress paint and dry.  Add Black Soot distress ink over tombstones to bring out the brick resist.

Sprinkle Forest Moss embossing powder over lower portion of die and emboss from the back.  This will prevent the embossing powder from blowing away.

Sponge Forest Moss distress ink over the bottom of the die cut.

Adhere to inside front cover with die cut bats on branch.

Stamp witches brewing and witch's brew on black #8 tag with Antique Linen distress paint.  Allow to dry.  Color in with colored pencils.

Stamp "You say I'm a witch like it's a bad thing" phrase onto a journal tag with Versamark ink and emboss with Terra Cotta embossing powder.  Sponge Crushed Olive distress ink over tag and edge with black soot.  Add a couple of die cuts (owl and moon).
Stamp potion bottles onto white CS with black Memento ink.  Color bottles with Yellow Ochre and Chartreuse Copic markers.  Cut out.  Apply coat of Versamark ink over bottle, emboss three times with clear embossing powder.  (TIP:  Emboss only half of the bottle at a time so you have something to hold onto while heating it.)
Adhere to tag pocket, raising one bottle with foam dots.
Two page spread shown below.

Stamp lace background in StazOn Cotton White on black #8 tag, edge with Spiced Marmalade distress paint.
Sponge Ripe Persimmon and Mowed Lawn distress inks over all.

Stamp witch moon on reverse of Halloween Glitter Stripe paper with VersaMark and emboss with clear embossing powder.
Sponge Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed distress paint over moon.  Let dry, then wipe excess paint off of embossed witch image with damp paper towel.
Cut out and adhere to tag.  Add some die cuts and German paper scrap to the bottom.

Here it is inside the pocket.
Stamp Halloween Bingo image onto reverse of Orange Crackle Glitter CS with Versamark ink and emboss with black embossing powder. Trim excess.
Stamp spider circle onto reverse of Halloween Glitter Stripe paper, punch with 3/4" circle punch, and add thick coat of 3D Crystal Lacquer.  These will be placed on the Bingo card as markers.
Here is the two page spread.
Stamp tombstone, flying urn, and ghost images  with Versamark ink and emboss with detail black embossing powder onto paper bag covered with Orange Bones CS.  Add some die cuts and washi tape.
Color black tag with distress paints in Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, and Mustard Seed.  Edge tag with Black Soot distress ink.  When dry, stamp pumpkin balloon, goblin, and 31 in black india ink.

Add some washi tape, green gems swirls, and alphabet letters to spell SPOOKY and OCT 31.  Here is the page with the tag inside the pocket.
Here is the two page spread.
I hope you enjoyed my project today.  It is a work in progress, as you might have guessed.  So I would love for you to check back every now and then and see my progress.  I will post the mini album directions next week, though.
