Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop - January 2017

Happy New Year!  I hope you are ready for our quarterly blog hop.  As always, we will make something from our hoarded stash of supplies.  And best of all, we have some great prizes to give away.

Theme: Winter, New Year’s, Calendar ideas, Valentine’s Day, Love/Anniversary
As you can see, I chose to make a Valentine's Day card. I had this pretty paper
from K&Company called Smitten for years. I may have used a few pieces from
this pad, but I seem to find it more pleasurable to decorate the inside of my
drawer. Well, no more!
I thought it would be fun to share with you a picture of some of the stash I planned
to use on this card but, as it turns out, I didn't use everything.
It's pretty simple, really. I made a card base to measure 5"x7", and layered a
piece from the paper pad slightly smaller than the card base. I found these
pretty aqua/gold doilies and layered that next. Some pretty heart shaped lace,
topped with pleated pink ribbon was added along the left edge. I die cut two
heart shapes, two solid hearts from different papers, and one gold flourished
heart. These were layered on top of each other, as shown.
Next, I added three mini flowers and a pretty pink bow to the center heart. A
print label was added with pop dots above the hearts, and two stamp images
were adhered on either side of the heart.
These pieces were used to finish off the inside of the card.
I layered the vellum with printed phrase over the print square label, and centered
on the card inside. Another label printed "love is in the air" was pop dotted and
added over the square label. A border strip was cut in half and added along the
top and bottom edge. Finishing off the card inside is just one more added detail,
but usually so appreciated by the recipient.
I hope you have been inspired to check out what you are hoarding in your stash
suitable for Valentine's Day. It isn't far off, you know. So take a look, you never
know what you will find. I am always surprised at some of the amazing, but long-
forgotten things I come across.
Your next stop is the talented Donna Idlet's blog. Wonder what amazing creation she
will come up with. The list of bloggers is shown below. Be sure to leave a

Gracielle Designs Fall Blog Hop

Hi everyone, and welcome to the first of three days of our Fall Fest blog hop.  This month, Gracielle Design is celebrating with lots of giveaways, sales, and inspiration!  Follow our blog hops each day and you'll have the chance to win a digital stamp set of your choice from Gracielle Design Digital Shop.  There will be lots of beautiful projects for your crafty inspiration, so we invite you to join the fun.

For my inspirational projects, I chose this gorgeous digital stamp set called Bee Kind.  I think the Sunflowers speak Fall to me, and the sentiments are so appropriate, too.

My first card uses these gorgeous sunflowers as the focal image.

I printed multiple images of the sunflowers, colored and fussy cut each one out.  On the top image, I added brown Flower Soft to the flower centers.

Cut black card stock to 6-1/2" x 10", fold in half to make 6-1/2" x 5" card, and the green print paper slightly smaller than the card front..  Die cut black chipboard and print papers with cabinet card die.  Use the smaller cabinet card die to cut another piece of black chipboard and the brown paper.  The brown paper was embossed with chain embossing folder.

Distress the edges of the first layer and adhere to the card front.  Adhere the chipboard to the back of each cabinet card.  Hit the high spots on the embossed paper with Vintage Photo distress ink.  Use the Vintage Market die to cut out FALL from black card stock.

Adhere all pieces to card front, as shown.

Adhere Fall to the top of the card.  Adhere the first image layer to the cabinet card layer.  Place pop dots as shown for the next layer.

Continue adding the next image layer to the first, again adding pop dots to lift the next layer.

A few closeups of the dimension after the final image was layered onto the two beneath it.

Print out one of the sentiments from the set onto stationery paper, cut to size and adhere inside card.

My second card used this sweet little bee as my focal image.

Cut kraft card stock to 6-1/2" x 12", fold in half.  Trim print paper slightly smaller, to 5-7/8" x 6-3/8".  Die cut yellow print paper using honeycomb die.

Cut honeycomb in half unevenly, adhere to print layer.  Use 1-3/4" circle die to cut three holes in paper, through honeycomb, if necessary, as shown.

Adhere print layer to green print paper, cut away excess paper.

Adhere to card front.

Add one complete bee to each circle, as shown.

Cut legs and head off of three bees, leaving only the body and wings, as shown.  Place bee upside down onto soft foam and emboss with a large ball stylus.  Shape wings and add hologram glitter glue.

Add pop dots to body portion of each bee and adhere over bees already adhered to card front.

A few closeups of the dimension.  Glitter glue was also added to the wings for extra sparkle.

Print out one of the sentiments from the set onto stationery paper, cut to size and adhere inside card.

Prize: Any three products of your choice!

I made two cards using products from some of our sponsors listed above.  This beautiful cardinal is a digital stamp from Deedee's Digis .  I just love this image, and it is so perfect for a Christmas card.   I used some dies for cutting fancy layers of card stock.
Here is the inside of this card. The sentiment is also from Deedee's Digis.
My second card is using some fabulous images from MHKDesigns.  I printed papers from Mynn's Beautifully Brocade Patterned Paper Pack, die cut them, and used them as the beautiful layers you see on this card.  The focal point is this gorgeous blossom from her Blossoming Digital Stamp Set.  I printed and colored the image twice with colored pencils.  The first (bottom) image was die cut with the label die.  The second (top) image was fussy cut, shaped with an embossing tool, and layered over the first image to to it dimension.
Here is a view of the two layers, from the side.  Pop dots help lift parts of the flower and leaves from the bottom layer.  Happy Holidays was printed onto scrap card stock from Deedee's Digis Christmas Cardinal set, fussy cut and added to the front.
For the inside of the card, I printed the sentiment again from the Deedee's Digis Christmas Cardinal set and die cut before adhering to the inside.

I think you are going to enjoy the fabulously spooky, and perhaps even freaky, projects by everyone, so sit back, grab a cup of Gruel, (okay, maybe not) and enjoy the hop.  A complete list of the blogs can be found at the bottom of this post.

So here it is, my coffin roadster.  And what do we have inside?  We have Manny Bones with a  goblet full of Piña Ghoulada to toast his friend, Justin Pieces, who seems to be sharing his coffin.

I love this coffin box from Gina's Designs, and I knew just how I wanted to use it with my Creative Paperclay® pieces.

Use skull die to cut into the top of the box, as shown.  Remove die cut.

Paint both sides of the coffin box with black gesso and both sides of the skull with white gesso.  Age the skull by lightly rubbing burnt umber antiquing cream over it.

Glue box together with a white tacky glue.

Paint Border Lace with Peeled Paint distress paint and adhere around base of coffin box.

Paint wheels with a medium gray paint.

Use a brad to attach your wheels to the wheel hub and glue skull & crossbones charms to each brad.

Turn bottom of coffin box over and adhere wheels and hubs, as shown.

You can use all sorts of molds with your Creative Paperclay® and Delight modeling compounds.  In the picture below, I have a Wilton cake decorating mold (dark blue), clay molds from Martha Stewart (aqua), and a clear plastic candy mold.  Make as many or as few clay pieces as needed for your project and let them dry, usually overnight.

I used both the Paperclay® and the Delight modeling compound for my pieces.  Both products are so easy to use and give amazing results, as you can see below.  I laid the pieces out to help determine how I might want to place them, and I filled the coffin bottom with Spanish moss.

I painted the pieces with grey acrylic paint, aging the bones by dry brushing with an off white paint.  Silver metallic was brushed over the filigree bits, and the spider, of course, was painted black with a red mark on her back.

I adhered mica fragments randomly to the coffin lid before adhering my Paperclay® and Delight molded pieces.  The hand was gently bent to look like something was trying to reach out from beneath the lid.  Oooooh, spooky!

Before adding my skeletons and other bits to the coffin, I added small metal handles, two on each side, of the coffin.  Then the fun began, adding Manny Bones and his friend, Justin Pieces.  Spider webbing was stretched across the lid and bottom for even more creepiness.

And here are a few photos of the finished coffin on wheels.

On the coffin lid, you can see a better shot of the spider, the creeping hand reaching up the side of the lid, and the pretty filigree pieces.

Looking down into the coffin, you can see all of the skeleton pieces molded from the Paperclay®.

In this picture, you can see the bats from the Spooky Shape Set, painted purple with orange stickles for eyes, and adhered to a spooky tree branch.

And here is a shot of the side of the coffin with those cute handles and fabulous wheels.

And here is a picture of my completed cemetery with the addition of Gina's Designs Tombstone Stand Ups.  You can see how these were decorated in my previous post.
