Leslierahye's By Land, Air or Sea--Steampunk Inspired Transportation Blog Hop

Hello fellow Steampunk blog hoppers, and welcome to Leslierahye's blog hop.  To celebrate National Transportation Month, we are going to share with you some steampunk-inspired projects.  And thanks to our hostess, Leslierahye, for making today's blog hop possible.   I understand that today is Train Day.  So, if you have arrived here from Leslierayhe's blog, then you are on track (no pun intended).  A complete list of the bloggers participating today is shown at the bottom of this post.

Be sure to leave a comment on each blog, and we would love for you to follow our blogs, as well.

So, without further adieu, here is my interpretation of steampunk-inspired transportation.  I chose to make three ATCs (Artist Trading Cards).

Each ATC measures 2-1/2" x 3-/12".  I printed each background image from the Grungy Steampunk Backgrounds digital collage sheet that I downloaded from  http://itkupilli.blogspot.com.  This is a fabulous web site for digital downloads.  Each ATC was made using the same basic techniques.
1.  Use blending tool to apply distress inks to the background images.
2.  Add Molasses and Silver Fox Smooch inks to the border.
This ATC needed the bottom background darkened, so I added Brushed Corduroy distress ink direct-to -paper to get a very dark area at the bottom.  This helped the horse train image pop when adhered later.

3.  Stamp horse train image onto a scrap of silver card stock with black ink.
4.  Fussy cut image.

5.   Attach horse train to bottom of ATC with foam pop dots.  Add clock face with spinner and brad over the printed clock face for added dimension.

The next ATC is done very similarly.

1.  Stamp balloon onto digital background image with black ink.
2.  Use blending tool to apply distress inks to the background images and add Molasses and Silver Fox Smooch inks to the border.
3.  Stamp balloon image onto scrap of orange card stock in black ink.  I also stamped the distressed harlequin image on the top portion of the balloon.  (See photo of finished ATC).  Fussy cut the image.
4.  Place balloon image face down onto a piece of fun foam. Use a large ended stylus to stretch the paper and make it "cup" the balloon.
The balloon now looks more realistic.
5.  Adhere the balloon to the stamped background image with foam dots.  Fussy cut the two tiny flags and glue those in place.  I stamped a few silhouette branches with black ink at the bottom because I felt it needed something.

The third ATC uses digital images from two collage sheets.  The background image on the left is from the Grungy Steampunk Backgrounds digital collage sheet, while the flying man is from the Sky Is Not The Limit digital collage sheet.  Both sheets were downloaded from http://itkupilli.blogspot.com.

1.  Ink both the background and flying man images using the same distress ink colors to help them coordinate with each other.
2.  Fussy cut the flying man image and adhere to the backgound with pop up glue dots, and add Molasses and Silver Fox Smooch inks to the border.  I also added some brushed corduroy distress ink along the bottom edge to give a bit more depth.
