A Vintage Valentine Card with Altered Pages and Deco Art Media

Hello everyone!  I have a special Altered Pages post for you today. The Altered Pages design team continues to enjoy our sponsored DecoArt products this month, and I even found some uses for them on my Valentine's Day card.  So, you card makers out there, don't be afraid to delve into the fabulous world of mixed media, because I am about to show you a fraction of what you can do with DecoArt Media products.  Of course, my card would be nothing without the help of Altered Pages products, too!

I used an aqua 4-/4" x 5-1/2" card for my base, and adhered a print paper slightly smaller to the front. I also distressed the paper with Scattered Straw to help it match the image.

I resized and printed out two of the image from the Always in Love collage sheet.  I adhered the whole image to a piece of thick chipboard and trimmed to size.  I edge the piece with Patina Green antiquing cream.  But wait, there's more.
I added Interference Gold fluid acrylic along the edges, and it gave this beautiful shimmer effect.  I think it really gave it just the right vintage feel I was going for.
I roughly cut out the heart portion of the second image and added a thinner piece of chipboard beneath it.  I began adhering the German Pennant Point Gold border around it, beginning at the bottom of the heart.  This allowed me to get that perfect point at the bottom of the heart.
I continued around the opposite side, again beginning at the bottom and finishing off at the top of the heart.  I used 3D Crystal Lacquer to adhere the border.  It works really well and sticks fast.
I wanted to distress the brassy finish of the gold border, so I added Patina Green antiquing cream with a cotton swab.
I adhered the cut out heart image with foam dots.  Ahhhh, now that's more like it!  I love how the colors are all coming together.
Finally, I added a piece of Dyeable Seam Binding that I inked with some aqua color,  and attached a bead charm to the bow with a Lightbulb Safety Pin.

Southern Belle Vintage Card

Hi everyone!  I have a card I want to share today that I am going to enter into a few challenges this month.  I used the new Prima Cigar Box Secrets paper collection, and this beautiful lady stamp from Postmodern Design that I found in my stamp collection but never used.  I also used my brand new Prima doily die to set off my pretty lady.

I fussy cut the lady, but cut off the tiny stamped image of her string for untying her corset, so I added a tiny piece of thread by poking one end into her corset, and cutting a tiny slit in her hand to hold the other end.

I am entering this in the Sweet 'n Sassy Something New challenge.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Challenge #7 with Sin City Stamps

Hello everyone.  This month, the Sin City Stamps design team is participating in the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog challenge this month.  Today's challenge #7 is to use fiber of any kind, such as ribbon, lace, twine, yarn, fabric, or just about anything that could be construed as "fiber".  In addition, the design team will be combining Sin City Stamps stamps, along with the use of the challenge items.  Both blogs will be giving away these fabulous prizes, so be sure to visit each of the blogs and leave a comment to be entered to win.

For my challenge entry, I chose to make a sewing themed card.  Yes, sewing and fibers, why not?
I love the Dressform stamp plate from Sin City Stamps, and I seem to be on this paper tole kick lately.  So, I decided to use different papers to "color" my stamped image.  This meant stamping my image three times onto three different pieces of paper and fussy cutting out the various parts of it.  I used colored pencils to color the pole and stand for the dress form.
Layer each piece, one on top of the next, to complete the image.  You can adhere some of the layers with foam tape for dimension, if you like.  I did not lift these layers, but instead, chose to lift the whole dress form instead.  (See photo below).
I bought this huge roll of ribbon from Costco because I fell in love with the tiny flower trim on the edges.  I cut the flowers and trim away from the central ribbon to adhere to my dress form image.
They are so tiny and perfect for layering onto smaller stamped images, such as this.
I colored some ivory seam binding with Spun Sugar distress stain, bunched up the ribbon into tiny ruffled balls to make these very vintage looking ribbon flowers.  Adding the Prima zipper pull and a handmade hat pin to the flowers just made it for me.
I needed one more element, so I used half of a Tim Holtz journaling ticket, stamped Treasure from the  Mannequin Tags 2 stamp plate in black Versafine ink, and added three tiny sewing snaps in keeping with the sewing theme.  All of my papers were edged with black soot distress ink.
Here, you can see where I die cut the Resplendent Rectangles from two of the 7Gypsies print paper pad and layered them together, then popped both the rectangles and the dress form for that dimension I so love. Oh yes, I also added crochet lace trim to the top and bottom for more vintage goodness.
