Gina's Designs Is Turning Three

Hello everyone, and thanks for stopping by.  Today, I want to share a birthday card I made for Gina's Designs' third birthday.  I am also entering it into their May Facebook Challenge, which is appropriately birthday themed.

Paint hand mirror with Nougat paint.  Die cut a small oval from a scrap of cream card stock.
Use die to mark where to cut away your acrylic sticker so it fits perfectly inside the cream die cut.  I removed the liner so I could stick it to my craft sheet while I marked it, then returned the liner to cover the adhesive while I cut away the excess.  If needed, you can smooth the edges with sandpaper, but I like to use emery boards.
Edge hand mirror chipboard base and cream card stock center with Vintage photo, adhere to center of mirror, then adhere acrylic sticker.
Paint thin lines across the top and handle with Emperor's Gold Silks to bling it up.  Add some shabby chic to the handle by scruffing it up with some sandpaper.
Paint decorative border with Vintage Lace paint.  Sponge lightly with Seedless Preserves DI, then blend in some Ripe Persimmon DI to get the right color.
Paint chandelier with white gesso, let dry.  Paint crystals with Stargazer Radiant Gel, let dry, then add 3D crystal lacquer.  Doesn't it look amazing?  Just like crystal.
Paint flames with Yellow Rose Silks, then a touch of Ginger Peach Silks at the bottom of each flame.
Paint chandelier base with Harvest Sol Silks, then top it off with Emperor's Gold Silks.  This makes the gold less brassy and bright, and more vintage and antiqued.
Paint the chair with white gesso, let dry.  Use a foam blending tool to add Forest Moss Distress Ink (DI) to the chair seat, back, and arms.  Scruff up the legs with sandpaper for a shabby chic look.
Paint fleur de lys with white gesso, then use a foam blending tool to add Dried Marigold DI, followed by Ripe Persimmon DI, and finally Seedless Preserves DI.  Adhere fleur de lys to back of chair.
Add Vintage Photo DI to the lace doily.  Paint Beautiful banner with Vintage Lace paint.  Sponge Forest Moss DI around the edges, then hit the high spots with Persimmon and Seedless Preserves DI.
A few close ups of the card.
I also added the acrylic "Celebrate" sticker to the lower right on the card.
Use the Adorning Squares die to cut and emboss the inside piece of card stock.  Stamp the sentiment in the center with black ink.

Supplies:

Gina's Designs:  Cardstock Doily Set - Intricates; Parisian Shape Set
Cardstock:  Medium Gray, Joy Crafts Romance print paper, mauve
ColourArte Silks:  Harvest Sol, Emperor's Gold, Ginger Peach, Yellow Rose
Paper Artsy Fresco Finish paint:  Nougat, Vintage Lace
Dies:  Tonic Butterfly Bracelet Strip Die Set (oval), Spellbinders Adorning Squares (inside)
Distress ink:  Vintage Photo, Forest Moss, Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon, Seedless Grape
Birthday phrase rubber stamp (The Artful Stamper)
Black VersaFine Ink pad
Acrylic stickers (my stash)

I hope you enjoyed my "beautiful" birthday wishes card for Gina and Gina's Designs.  May you have many, many more.

Hugs,
Barbara

Craft Hoarders Blog Challenge #15 - All the Pretty Flowers

Hello all you fellow hoarders.  Today, I want to share my very flower-ful card with you and all the craft hoarders out there.  I don't know about you, but I have tons of pre-made flowers, punches, dies, you name it, I've got it!  So, this was the perfect challenge for me to come along and play.  I have a feeling I am not alone, so why not join in the fun.

Here is what this challenge is all about.

This challenge is for all of you flower hoarders! Maybe you hoard pre-made flowers. Maybe you hoard flower punches or dies. Maybe you hoard flower stamps. "Dig" out those flowers and use them on your project!

Cut pomegranate card stock to 6" x 12", fold in half to make a 6" x 6" side-folded card.  Use single edge border die from Scalloped Borders Two to cut the right edge of the card.  Add a thin strip of printed paper cut using the tiny holes border die on the outer edge, placing the single edge border die approximately 1/2" from the first to form the thin strip.  Adhere beneath card front edge.
Card Front showing edge die used

Card Front on Inside with patterned paper strip

Cut image from Fairy Belle paper using Labels Twenty-Five #3.  Cut pomegranate card stock using Labels Twenty-Five #4.  Trace and cut outer edge of Labels Twenty-Five #4 onto newsprint card stock.  Ink edges and layer all three pieces with foam dots.  This will be the focal image.  See photos below.

Cut light orange card stock using middle frame from Elegant Labels 4.  Leave card stock in die and ink paper through openings with Vintage Photo and blending tool.
Remove from die and adhere to base card.
Then layer focal image on top.
Apply thin gold border sticker along inner embossed edge of card, as shown.
Use edge die to cut the back of the card to match the front.
Both front and back of card are now cut to match
A few close-up photos showing the dimension.

Supplies used:
Spellbinders S5-077 Labels Twenty-Five
Spellbinders S6-005 5x7 Elegant Labels 4

Paper Tole and Oh Christmas Tree Cards

Hello Robin's Nest fans.  Welcome to my last post as a design team member for The Robin's Nest.  On the one hand, it saddens me to leave, but on the other hand, I plan to continue sharing projects with you on my blog using their wonderful papers, embellishments, and of course, dew drops.  In addition, the new design team is going to be simply fabulous, so whatever you do, don't go away.

Well, Christmas is almost here, and the excitement in my heart has already begun.   I can't seem to get rid of that little kid in me that has always loved the enchantment of the holidays, not to mention the good eats!  I also love to make Christmas cards, right up to the last moment.  So, in keeping with my "last minute" traditions, I want to share (one last time) a couple of Christmas cards I made using the beautiful Russian Winter paper collection from The Robin's Nest, and pair it with some products from our monthy sponsor, Ecstasy Crafts.

Supplies used:

The Robin's Nest:  Brick Classic Glitter card stock, Brown Classic Glitter card stock, Gold Classic Glitter cardstock, White Snow Glitter card stock, Kiwi Glitter Sorbet cardstock, Boy Polka Dot Stamp cardstock, Brilliant Blue MiniDew Drops, Fushia Mini Dew Drops, Limoncello Yellow Mini Dew Drops
Snowflake doily die cut (Gina's Designs)
Ecstasy Crafts 3D Reddy Cards die cuts, Starform Christmas Tree sticker
Pumice Stone distress stain and ink pad (Tim Holtz)
Olive Pastel chalk ink pad (Colorbox)
Perfect Pearls Mist:  Heirloom Gold
Copic Markers: B97, E79, G94, R29, R59, V09, Y35
Rubber Stamp (Stampabilities)
Dies: Labels 8, Decorative Labels 8 (Spellbinders); Tattered Banners (Tim Holtz)
Corner rounder punch (Marvy)

Directions:

My first card is a paper tole style card using the 3D Reddy Cards die cuts from Ecstasy Crafts.

Trim White Snow Glitter card stock to 9" x 6-1/4", fold in half to make  4-1/2" x 6-1/4" card.

Color entire paper with Pumice Stone distress ink.
Allow to dry, then spritz with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mist.  Below is a close-up of the paper, showing some of the iridescence of the Heirloom Gold mist.  Round card corners.
The next step is to follow the directions for making one of the paper tole images on the 3D Reddy Cards Sheet, shown below.  These are all die cut images and numbered to make it especially easy and so very special for the recipient.  Layer each numbered piece, in sequence, using foam dots.
Die cut papers and layer, as shown below, using the Spellbinders dies.
Below is a close-up of the dimension achieved using these 3D Reddy Cards die cuts.
My next card is also very easy to make using the Starform Christmas Tree stickers, also from Ecstasy Crafts.  These stickers look so fragile and delicate, but in reality, are very sturdy and easy to use.
I first trimmed Boy Polka Dot Stamp cardstock to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2, folded in half to make 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card.  Round corners.

Adhere a tree sticker to a scrap of Kiwi Glitter Sorbet cardstock.
Next, color cardstock between sticker openings with Copic Markers.  The glitter in the cardstock will resist some of the color and give this nice gradation of greens to your tree image.
Fussy cut around the sticker.  Do not attempt to cut around the candles, but instead, gently lift them off of the paper and snip beneath them, as shown below.  This will make it much easier for you.
Continue fussy cutting around the tree.  Center a doily from one of our previous sponsors, Gina's Designs, and adhere tree image to that with foam dots.  Add all three colors of dew drops (as listed in supplies) to the tree and around the doily edges.  (See finished photo above).

Computer generate "Oh Christmas Tree" on a scrap of Kiwi Glitter Sorbet cardstock, between the glitter, and die cut with tattered banner.  Adhere to top of card with foam tape.   (See finished photo above).

To finish off the inside, and carry on the theme, stamp sentiment with Olive Pastel chalk ink pad, and add one of the smaller stickers from the sticker sheet to the top right corner.
And there you have it.  Two more beautiful Christmas cards that were a snap to make with the fabulous Robin's Nest papers and the Ecstasy Crafts products.  So check out the 20% off sale on the Russian Winter collection this month, and be sure to pay a visit to Ecstasy Crafts for more fun products.

It has been a real honor and pleasure to be on the Robin's Nest design team, and I hope you will continue to visit me often at my blog for more projects using their wonderful products.  The new design team is about to be announced, so stay tuned for more fabulous inspiration from them.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and a most wonderful, Happy New Year!

Butterfly Dream Card

Hi everyone, and welcome back to the blog.  Barbara here with some more stamping fun.  Well, another month is almost over, and Fall is upon us, although the 90˚ temperatures here would not give any indication of that happening.  But, happen it will.  In the meantime, I still have these beautiful colors in my mind's eye, and I could not be more pleased with how this sweet card turned out.

Supplies Used:

Sin City Stamps:  Rosette Hearts
                             For the Love of Butterflies
Cardstock:  Aqua, Dusty Pink
Gina's Designs:  Delicate Frames & Ornaments Shape Set
Twinkling H20s:  Creme de Rouge, Tuscan Sun, Dragonfly
Specialty stamping paper
Versamark watermark ink pad, Encore gold metallic ink pad (Tsukineko)
Antiquities Verdigris embossing powder (Ranger)
Detail clear, detail gold embossing powder (Stamp n Stuff)
Spellbinders Dies:  Decorative Labels Eight, Labels Eight
Fiskars corner rounder punch
The Great Outdoors metal accents (TPC Studio)

Directions:

Cut specialty stamping paper to 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  Spray with the Creme de Rouge.  Allow to dry.  Stamp and emboss rosette hearts background with Versamark and clear embossing powder.  Mist with Tuscan Sun and Dragonfly.  Allow to dry.
Cut aqua CS with the Decorative Labels Eight die.
Center and cut stamped background with Labels Eight die.
Adhere stamped background to aqua die cut.
Trim pink CS to 9" x 6-1/2" to form an A6 (4-1/2" x 6") size card.  Round outer corners.

Adhere stamped, die cut background to center of card front.
I spritzed a makeup sponge with a bit of the Dragonfly mist and added it to the decorative aqua edge.  I think it brought the colors closer, and I love the color variation.
Stamp and gold emboss two butterflies from For The Love of Butterflies set using Gold Encore ink.
I stamped these onto a scrap of cloudy vellum, cut them out, and then added a spritz of Dragonfly mist.  This gave that pretty blue color between the gold embossing.  And because I stamped onto vellum, the color shows off beautifully when light passes through the wings.  I don't think it will show up in the photos, but it really is a pretty effect for such tiny images.
Instead of trying to fussy cut antennae on a butterfly, I prefer to add a bit of fine gauge wire to the back of my butterflies to represent their antennae.  I decided to do this for the side ways butterfly, but chose a spinner for the body on the full one.  I really like that look.  I usually like to use pen nibs, but this butterfly is on the small, delicate side, so I thought the spinner looked more like the right size for this sweet little butterfly.  I also added a tiny metal accent in blue over the hole where the brad would have otherwise gone.
Next, I used the Dream frame from Gina's Designs, inked it with Gold Encore metallic ink, and embossed with Verdigris embossing powder.  Because I used the gold ink underneath the EP, it came to the surface and gave this beautiful gold patina on the chipboard.  I really love how that turned out.
Here is another look at the finished card.
Once again, I really love the feminine look of this card, with the vintage feel of the lacy die cut, and delicacy of the sweet little butterflies.  I especially love how the stamped background turned out for this particular card, but can you see the possibilities?  No matter how many times you follow these steps to make it, it will never look the same.  And just imagine the color possibilites!  Endless!!

I hope I have inspired you to try some background stamps with your color mists and see what beautiful "prints" you, too, can create.  In addition to Terri Sproul, we have a couple of new stamp designers, Pam Bray and Peg Rounds, who are coming up with some beautiful images for us to play with.  So check out the Sin City Stamps online store for the latest stamp releases.  And while you are there, check out the Sin City Stamps blog to see how the DT is using these stamps as they are released.

Oh, and don't forget to mark your calendars for our Fall/Halloween Blog Hop on the 12th of October.  There will be fun, inspiration, and giveaways.  I hope you will join us then.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and as always, have a wonderful weekend, and make some time for stamping.
